Lt Col Moose Moore is decorated veteran of the United States Air Force where he served for over 20 years. It was during this time in service where he was first exposed to the threat of Asymmetrical Warfare and the dangers of fighting an enemy that knows how to blend into the normalcy of civilian community. Although, formally trained as a fighter pilot, Lt Col Moore has spent the last six years in dedicated pursuit of learning as much about the threat of terrorism and how it can be mitigated by teaching the general population the skill set of real and active Vigilance. In his quest for learning how a terrorist thinks, Lt Col Moore has traveled to Israel and studied under the tutelage of former Israeli Defense Forces learning how to utilize behavioral profiling as a methodology of recognizing a threat, as well as bomb making and blast mitigation.
Educational / Training Background
Born in Dayton, Ohio as a twin (who is also a fighter pilot) his mother moved the boys and older sister to Nashville, Tennessee after their father was tragically killed in a military fighter accident in the mid 50’s. Michael became an Eagle Scout and followed his father’s footsteps by being commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant after graduation from Auburn University with his B.S. in Business Administration. He later earned a Masters of Science in Systems Management from the University of Southern California. Lt Col Moore’s military training has included Flight Training (T-37,T-38, T-33, F-4, F-15), Survival Schools (Land & Water), Air & Ground Operations School (joint) and Korean Army Ranger School. He is a Black Belt in Korea’s martial art of Tae Kwon Do, and is currently a student of Israel’s Krav Maga. Lt Col Moore resides in Nashville with his wife and has 3 grown children and 2 grand children. He is also a full-time transport pilot with FedEx and enjoys all forms of exercise in his spare time.
Besides his flying background of over 4000 hours in fighter type aircraft, including the F-4 Phantom and F-15 Eagle, Lt Col Moore served with the famed 2nd Infantry Division (USA), on the DMZ in Korea and in the shadow of Panmunjom, as a Tactical Team leader and advisor to United States Army. It was during this tour that Moose was first exposed to the threat of an enemy that knew how to breach a secured border and then blend into a community where unconventional warfare could then be prosecuted. As a graduate of the Korean Army Ranger School (White Horse Division) he learned first hand the harsh realities of a threat that recognized no limitations and had no boundaries. This military experience has certainly been beneficial when it comes to understanding the mindset of today’s terrorists’ threat.
Lt Col Moore’s military experience and travels abroad has taught him that America’s challenge of protecting its communities, institutions and citizens from all forms of violence (felonies, assaults, thefts and acts of terrorism) must be the responsibility of ALL OF US and not to assume that our government will be there for us. It is his belief that being proactive and not reactive is the most cost effective (and life saving) method that we can undertake when it comes to prevention or mitigation. In order to accomplish this task, we must learn how each and every one of us can be part of the solution by learning how to recognize these violent events (or their processes) before they actually occur! He often refers to this non-traditional security as Force Multiplying your assets, i.e., teaching everyone how to recognize and respond as a way of mitigating the violent event.
